Admin

This path applies to Admin and Super Admin users setting up SpeechGradebook for a department or institution for the first time.

Before you begin

  • Your account has Admin or Super Admin permissions
  • Your institution record exists in SpeechGradebook (contact ValidBound if you need a new institution)

Step 1 — Configure your institution profile

  1. Go to SettingsAdminInstitution.
  2. Review and update your institution name and configuration.
  3. Select Save when finished.

Step 2 — Approve instructor accounts

  1. Go to SettingsAdminUsers.
  2. Review Pending approvals.
  3. Approve or decline each signup request.
  4. Use User management to adjust roles or deactivate accounts as needed.

Step 3 — Confirm compliance settings

  1. Go to SettingsAdminCompliance.
  2. Run the RLS and audit log checks to confirm access controls are active.
  3. Review results with your institution's FERPA officer if required.

Step 4 — Review usage and monitoring

  1. Go to SettingsUsage & Plan to review evaluation limits for your department.
  2. Go to SettingsAdminMonitoring for cost tracking (Admin+) and energy impact (all roles).

Super Admin — Model service configuration

To configure the SpeechGradebook Text + Video Model (Qwen) service URL:

  1. Go to SettingsAdminData Management.
  2. Enter the Qwen service URL for your deployment.
  3. Select Save.

This setting is available to Super Admin users only. See Configure model service.
