Admin
This path applies to Admin and Super Admin users setting up SpeechGradebook for a department or institution for the first time.
Before you begin
- Your account has Admin or Super Admin permissions
- Your institution record exists in SpeechGradebook (contact ValidBound if you need a new institution)
Step 1 — Configure your institution profile
- Go to Settings → Admin → Institution.
- Review and update your institution name and configuration.
- Select Save when finished.
:::info Super Admin Super Admins can create new institutions from Settings → Admin → Institution → Create institution. :::
Step 2 — Approve instructor accounts
- Go to Settings → Admin → Users.
- Review Pending approvals.
- Approve or decline each signup request.
- Use User management to adjust roles or deactivate accounts as needed.

Step 3 — Confirm compliance settings
- Go to Settings → Admin → Compliance.
- Run the RLS and audit log checks to confirm access controls are active.
- Review results with your institution's FERPA officer if required.

Step 4 — Review usage and monitoring
- Go to Settings → Usage & Plan to review evaluation limits for your department.
- Go to Settings → Admin → Monitoring for cost tracking (Admin+) and energy impact (all roles).

Super Admin — Model service configuration
To configure the SpeechGradebook Text + Video Model (Qwen) service URL:
- Go to Settings → Admin → Data Management.
- Enter the Qwen service URL for your deployment.
- Select Save.
This setting is available to Super Admin users only. See Configure model service.
