Generate consent links
This article explains how to generate and track student consent for ValidBound product-improvement / R&D use of deidentified evaluation content. It applies to instructors.
Instructional storage of evaluations for your course does not wait on this consent. Affirmative consent (18+) is required before ValidBound includes a student’s materials in LLM training or R&D exports.
Send consent requests by email
- Go to Settings → General → Consent Management.
- Select your course from the course filter.
- Select Generate Consent Link for the course (if you have not already).
- Select Email next to a student to send that student a consent request, or use the bulk email action to notify multiple students at once.
Each student receives an email with a personal link to the consent form (from your email client via mailto, or from SpeechGradebook server SMTP when configured). Students complete the form in their browser — they do not sign in to SpeechGradebook. Status updates automatically in the consent table when they respond.
Make sure each student on your roster has a correct email address before sending requests. See Manage rosters.
Evaluations and consent
- Evaluations are stored for instructional use when the course and student enrollment can be resolved.
- Decline, under-18, or no response: instructional storage and instructor/admin export still apply; ValidBound excludes those records from LLM/R&D exports.
- Temporary local-only storage may still occur if enrollment cannot yet be linked; those evaluations sync when resolvable.
See Consent and data storage for the full model.
