Run a practice evaluation

This article explains how to evaluate one practice speech. It applies to Practice users.

Before you begin

  • You are signed in to Practice
  • You have an available evaluation (access code / quota, if your program uses them)
  • You have a supported video file, or you can record in the browser

Run the evaluation

  1. Open Evaluate.
  2. Optionally enter a title.
  3. Select a rubric (and a rubric collection if shown).
  4. For an impromptu rubric, select Draw topic and prepare that prompt.
  5. Select Record with camera or Upload video.
  6. Select Evaluate Speech.

Practice shows progress while it transcribes audio and analyzes your speech. When processing finishes, review category scores, comments, and related feedback on the results screen.

Save the evaluation

Select Save to keep the evaluation in Speeches. Unsaved results may be lost if you leave the page or start another evaluation.

Tips

  • Use a quiet space and keep your face and upper body visible when you record on camera.
  • Upload accepts MP4, WebM, and MOV.
  • Practice feedback is for rehearsal. It is not automatically a course grade. See Practice vs course evaluation.
